All cracks capable of allowing water to get underneath the asphalt need to be sealed with rubber. Allowing surface water to get underneath asphalt causes further cracking due to frost heaving and disturbance of sub base soil. We remove loose debris, vegetation and moisture from all cracks capable of accepting water prior to rubber sealing. Once the cracks have been thoroughly cleaned and prepped they are completely sealed with hot rubber. Black sand is sprinkled on the fresh rubber so the exposed rubber does not stick to tires or shoes. A liquid de-tack is used if sealcoating will not be applied to the asphalt after crack sealing.
One important thing to note about hot rubber crack sealing is that rubber shrinks slightly as it cools. We make every effort to completely fill cracks with rubber while we are performing this service. As the rubber cools over the next 12 hours it will shrink to an extent. This can lead to a slightly sunken look to the crack sealing on wider and deeper cracks. This sinking does not mean the crack is not adequately sealed. It just means the rubber has cooled, condensed and shrunk to its final size.
We offer crack sealing for both commercial and residential properties in Greenfield, MA, and the surrounding area. Homeowners and businesses alike can rely on us to go above and beyond when it comes to this extremely important service.
